PH-PBX / PH-KBX
In February 1972 the RLD took delivery of a Fokker Fellowship, PH-PBX, the first Dutch government executive jet aircraft. PBX was replacing PH-PBF a Fokker F.27 Friendship. PBX did operate for 24 years with the Dutch government untill being replaced by a Fokker 70 in 1995. PH-PBX was transferred to Fokker Aircraft in May 1996 and cancelled in July 1996 as being sold to Indonesia as PK-RJW.
Both color pictures where taken at Rotterdam-Zestienhoven in July 1977.
PH-KBX, a Fokker 70 is the last real Dutch government aircraft. The Fokker 70 did replace the Fokker 28 PH-PBX in 1996. PH-KBX was registered in August 1995 to Fokker Aircraft BV and after completion of the VIP interior the aircraft was transferred to the Dutch government in February 1996. The Netherlands was one of the few countries in the world who where able to design, manufacture and operate their own government aircraft. Only France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States did have the same capability. With the discontinuation of economical support from the Dutch Government to Fokker Aircraft the company went bankrupt. In the future a replacement Government jet has to be bought abroad. That can be a complicated and delicate proces, keeping in mind the aquisition by the Chinese government of a Boeing 767-300 from the USA during the year 2001.
